White SettlersEd and Sarah buy an isolated farmhouse in Scotland and move in. And at first it is; come sunset they fall in love all over again on a wander in the woods. But as darkness falls, Sarah suspects they're not alone, Ed goes to investigate and quickly, the evening becomes a nightmare. It suddenly dawns on them; they do not belong here. This rural 'home invasion' movie is gussied up with topical nods to the Scottish independence debate - but horror fans on both sides of the border are likely to vote no.

A film that shows that evil exists and will exist, without explanation. [Full review in Spanish]

A great location, a typically strong performance from Ms. McIntosh, and an admirably expeditious pace keeps this thriller moving.
ScotsmanSeptember 10, 2014
Fairly mediocre, boringly executed stuff - more provocative for the timing of its release than anything it puts on screen.
GuardianSeptember 04, 2014
A decent watch for the genre, with suspense and a promising turn from rising star McIntosh.

even if White Settlers is somewhat flawed, it has certainly come at the perfect moment, and may even, at least within the shadowy borderlands of the horror community, spark a debate about the rights and wrongs of Scottish claims to independence.

White Settlers is entertaining enough but with a tighter, smarter script it could have had even more impact.
